the government hates pedestrians

i am convinced of this. several indications:

1) the railings along sidewalks only prevent pedestrians from using the sidewalk in the first place.
2) they make pedestrians walk far too long to get a ride (try walking two commercial blocks from the Quezon Avenue MRT Station to the jeepney stops that are near to the corner of Agham already)
3) they build elevated crosswalks and then prohibit vehicles from unloading passengers there, hence, discouraging the use of these elevated crosswalks. (see signs at the Shell station at Don Antonio/Commonwealth)
4) they dig up the right-most lane and don't put any means for pedestrians to traverse the now-muddy lane. (see Commonwealth Avenue)

We are more marginalized than motorists.

I have half a mind to put up a Union for Pedestrians. The problem is, I am too lazy for the organization and mobilization of other fellow-pedestrians. And most of us would be too busy with a full-time job to start this kind of work: you know, we're grinding along, not really getting much money. At least not enough to buy a car, maintain it and shoulder fuel expenses. What more funding a cause? The point would be to pitch in, i guess. Now all we need is a leader.
