a sacred weekend...

...untouched by work and extralong, i might add.

i accompanied margarita to UP for the myx campus cd sale where she performed 4 songs. her original was the best, i think, proof that you're not always better off as someone else. i met lyra and rey (happy young attractive married couple) en route to the AS parking lot and dragged them over too. after some free ice cream, margarita drove me to BA over stories about her 9-yr-old son. *kids these days* long lost holy girls Candy, Sheila and Pam plus John Drew greeted me (and my island riddims proposal) with enough enthusiasm and promising consideration. At Music, Rica (and Enrico - a match made in heaven) took me around to publicize the Putumayo launch among the students and teachers.

When karl arrived, the four of us decided to double-date at SM north, eating a simple dinner at the food court, then into the theatre for the incredibles. it was a really cute movie with cool girls - violet, elastigirl, mirage and edna. rica and enrico went their own way to freedom bar, but karl was too tired to go anywhere else but home.

the next day, he took me on a city trip to manila. we went to the quiapo church where he told me all about the senor, the miracles, the devotion. i wish i could witness something that would make me really understand or feel the importance of their devotion, but i just might be too chicken or too prissy. in any case, the images were eerily beautiful, with eyes that look as alive as they are believed to be. speaking of chicken, i was too chicken to have my fortune told. hahaha.. who knows what they would have told me? anyway, we went shopping afterwards. i bought some gifts and karl bought me a bracelet. after working up an appetite, we headed to ermita to look for a middle eastern restaurant called ghazal. we got lost, but at least by the time we got there, we were hungry enough for the large servings. the lamb and the banana shake were really good. *lisa, what did i ever do to you?* he took me to the metropolitan museum after. we went around back since he still had his ID from when he worked there. such a VIP with people greeting him and all. the place was quiet and empty, just how i like it. there was this beautiful juan luna, a huge abstract by phyllis zaballero, bas reliefs from cambodia, clothes, textiles and bags from australia, india, etc. and snazzy pre-historic jewelry. *i could dig that*

i did more christmas shopping with mum and dad on sunday. after finishing in ayala, mum dragged us to UP for this exhibit. she was told that cj de silva's work would be there, so i badgered karl to tell me about her since he interviewed him recently. anyway, it was all a fluke. there was nothing by cj de silva. there was a c.j. owen, though, who happened to be cheryl, the sister of my good friend charlene. doesn't matter. we were still duped! looking for karl's (real) cj article in the manila times online archive however, i found an old acquaintance. he was my crush back in my poetry class. i was only 15 years old, the second youngest there. now he's a columnist for the paper. anyway, i dropped him a line and he's the newest addition to the old friendster list. *snicker*

probably from all the walking that saturday and sunday, my back gave me trouble for two nights in a row. a burning kind, not in my bones, a few inches below my shoulder blades. felt like i was growing wings. karl hung out with me yesterday and gave me a massage while watching adaptation. heeheehee.. ang funny ni nick cage! and well, my back's as good as new. he had dinner with us, and i'm glad he liked our beefsteak. i worry about those things you know - new people eating our food at home.

...so here's to my time at the top of the wheel... thank you god.

note to self: must see anne, binky, may, jennie jo and sir reev soon.
