double dates seem to be an archaic activity nowadays. when couples do get together, it's usually a chanced-upon meeting. exactly how wawi, goo, karl & i found out that a double date for us COULD be a good idea, during a late-night meal on the night of emm gryner's performance. so yesterday, we decided to troop to ghazal for some good ol' neighborhood persian food, and a round of drinks after we accompanied wawi to her couturier/friend.
fascinating thing about other couple: the way they devour the whole art package and live it, from goo managing several bands and a studio, and wawi doing her whole performance art bit, swimming in middle eastern culture after meeting israeli pop stars in WOMAD singapore. (well, all three of my companions are well read, but they have several years advantage. meeting people of this calibre fascinates me but at the same time makes me utterly insecure. but it's only my self-image affected, not the appetite... so, is that good or bad?)
common thing: uber pragmatic, protective, streetsmart men who are actually very loving when with their naive girls.
so now i'm in dire need of sleep, lotion, cold compress and scar ointment as wounds heal and scabs fall away....
