it was my first ever NU rock awards, as well as anne's, who was my date that evening. i was there to root for junior kilat, of course, as well as to see mig ayesa. anne was solely there for mig. the atmosphere was chaotic throughout, and let me say here that being a rock rebel is no excuse for the lack of any semblance of formality at an award show. this is my commentary on the prevailing filipino ideas of "masa/open to the public" & "it's the irrevent award show". you have only to see isabelle ramos in a wisp of a white column gown to see how beautiful it is to have some DECORUM!!! so anyway, after 10 performers, and around 9 awards, it was already 11:30 PM, no junior kilat win and no mig ayesa in sight. and i still had to rush to eastwood for a dear friend's birthday party.
not regretfully, i had a wonderful time with baby, leo, ros, skipp & isbel at something fishy. my tummy actually had room for the buffet breakfast. anyway, after bringing baby home, i clocked in at our house at 3:00 AM
barely four hours later, i was up again to prepare for my weekly design classes (which i always look forward to, with great classmates & a great teacher, and a great learning atmosphere). this was where i received news from my boss leo(M) of the previous evening's big winners. this included, THANKFULLY, Ako Si M-16 by Junior Kilat for song of the year!
so, CONGRATULATIONS to BUDOY, GINA, TIANO, CLEOFAS, DIANA, ARCIE, BANGIN, JAD wherever you are, KATYA & JAI - who all share in the triumph of the song's success. i myself cannot help but dip into revelling in your glory. it is quite inspiring for a song in Cebuano to win song of the year, a great feat for any vernacular, even if it is not mine. you guys are one of the few artists who has earned my respect and fondness beyond the call of work.
take that, mainstream rock! BRATATATATATATATATAT!
